Job Title: Finance & Administration Manager – Construction Chemical Industry Location: Kampala, Uganda Department: Finance & Accounts Reports To: Regional Finance Director / Country Manager Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager with experience in the construction chemicals or building materials industry, based in Kampala, Uganda. The ideal candidate will oversee all financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, manage budgeting and forecasting, and support business decision-making for both project-based and distribution-led sales models. Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Planning & Budgeting Prepare annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial plans. Analyze financial performance and identify key drivers of revenue, margin, and cost variances. Provide financial insights to support strategic growth, pricing decisions, and market expansion. 2. Accounting & Financial Reporting Oversee day-to-day accounting operations in compliance with IFRS and Ugandan financial regulations. Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Manage general ledger, receivables, payables, fixed assets, and costing activities. Support statutory and internal audits by providing required documentation. 3. Costing & Inventory Management Monitor product costing, margin analysis, and cost control initiatives. Oversee inventory valuation, stock reconciliations, and supply chain cost optimization. Work closely with supply chain and warehouse teams to manage slow-moving, expired, or damaged stock. 4. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management Maintain strong financial discipline through effective cash-flow forecasting and liquidity management. Optimize receivables and payables cycles, especially from distributors, dealers, and project clients. Ensure timely collections and develop credit control policies suitable for the Ugandan market. 5. Taxation & Compliance Ensure compliance with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) requirements including VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, and excise duties (if applicable). Maintain proper documentation for tax audits and filings. Monitor changes in local tax laws, regulatory requirements, and ensure full compliance. 6. Financial Controls & Risk Management Implement and review internal controls to safeguard company assets. Conduct financial risk assessments related to projects, credit exposure, contracts, and currency fluctuations. Support compliance with internal corporate governance policies and external regulatory standards. 7. Business Partnering Work closely with sales, operations, and project teams to evaluate pricing strategies, distributor margins, tender commercial terms, and project profitability. Provide financial modeling for large government and private projects. Offer decision-support insights for product mix optimization and territory profitability. 8. Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounts team. Ensure consistent skill development, process improvements, and high-performance culture. Coordinate with regional and global finance teams for reporting and alignment. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (MBA preferred). CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification required. 5–10 years of finance experience, ideally in construction chemicals, building materials, manufacturing, or FMCG. Strong understanding of project-based and distribution-based business models. Solid knowledge of Ugandan financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance. Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar). Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams.
