Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) Manager

Aldelia — Uganda

Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) Manager Location: Uganda Commitment: Full-Time Travel: As needed Reporting To: Carbon Program Manager About the Role Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) Manager would design and implement robust monitoring systems for our nature-based carbon projects. This technical role ensures all projects meet stringent MRV requirements under Verra VCS, Gold Standard, ART TREE, GCF and Uganda's national carbon policies. You will bridge field data collection with remote sensing to deliver auditable carbon accounting for high-integrity credits.   Key Responsibilities 1.    Develop end-to-end Monitoring Plans compliant with Verra VCS/Gold Standard methodologies 2.    Design field data collection protocols for forest carbon stocks, soil carbon, and project boundaries 3.    Integrate remote sensing data with ground measurements for Tier 2/3 reporting 4.    Calculate baseline emissions and project removals using IPCC-compliant models 5.    Implement QA/QC systems for field data and spatial datasets 6.    Prepare verification-ready documentation including Monitoring Reports 7.    Deploy mobile data collection tools (KoBoToolbox, Field Maps) for field teams 8.    Automate analysis using Python/R scripts and Google Earth Engine 9.    Pilot drones and sensor technologies to enhance measurement precision 10. Serve as primary liaison for third-party validators/verifiers (e.g., DNV, TÜV) 11. Address verification findings and implement corrective actions 12. Ensure alignment with Uganda's National Carbon Registry requirements   Required Expertise & Qualifications 5+ years implementing MRV systems for forest carbon projects (REDD+ mandatory) Expert in 1) Carbon accounting standards: VCS VM0007/VM0015, Gold Standard LULUCF, 2) IPCC Guidelines: Tier 2/3 biomass equations and uncertainty analysis, 3) Geospatial tools: QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, Google Earth Engine. Field experience with forest inventory protocols (permanent plots, allometrics)   Education & Certifications Bsc degree in environmental science, Forestry, Geomatics, or related field (PhD or Master’s degree is an added advantage) Professional certifications: 1) Verra VCS-approved MRV training 2) GHG Accounting certification (e.g., GHG Management Institute). Examples of Work samples: Monitoring Plans, verification reports, or code repositories. Required Competencies 1.    Obsessive about data integrity and methodological rigor 2.    Troubleshoots field and technical challenges innovatively 3.    Translates complex MRV concepts for diverse stakeholders 4.    Thrives in remote field conditions and dynamic project environments 5.    Committed to transparent, high-integrity carbon accounting. 6.    Knowledge of forest ecosystems (tropical high forest, woodlands) Why Join Us?
