KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Inspire safety commitment in all teams, including contractors and subcontractors, by demonstrating deep knowledge of HSE and leading by example. - Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE requirements to promote a healthy and safe work environment. - Analyse and report on the performance of contractors and subcontractors, identifying deviations or risks, and propose timely mitigations to the Project Management Team. - Manage and ensure site works are executed by contractors and their approved subcontractors in accordance with contract agreements. - Monitor and review contractor-related assurance activities and verification documentation. - Ensure contractors perform works according to approved plans and procedures. - Interface with other discipline superintendents, engineers, planners, authorities, contractors, and vendors to meet key contract deliverables. - Deliverables include safety compliance, environmental management, budget control, project schedule, and adherence to project and national specifications, standards, and practices. - Gather and validate 'lessons learnt' from the project team and provide feedback. CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT - The project is part of a multinational joint venture involving significant social performance objectives and project financing by high-profile lenders. - The site is in a remote location in Northern Mozambique with unreliable infrastructure and communication. - The position requires adherence to mitigation measures for Malaria, COVID, and general security risks. - This is a rotational position. ACCOUNTABILITIES - Responsible for construction activities within the specified area, collaborating closely with the EPC contractor following project rules and objectives (including HSE, Quality, Schedule, and Cost). - Coordinate with other departments to ensure safe and timely execution, aiming to deliver a fit-for-purpose facility. REQUIREMENTS - Education: Degree or diploma qualification (or equivalent) in a related discipline and/or experience on oil & gas construction projects. - Minimum 10 years' experience in related discipline with general knowledge of the oil and gas sector. - Strong understanding of critical success areas for large, complex projects, such as safety, environmental management, work organization, cost, schedule, quality, organizational competency, and reputational risk. - Demonstrated HSE culture and safety leadership. - Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence decisions. - Strong English communication skills (written and verbal); knowledge of Portuguese or French is an advantage.
