Division: Exploration & Production Service Title: Occupational Health Physician JV SERVICE DIMENSIONS The Occupational Health (OH) Physician position aims at: Maintaining employees' health in their work environment Responding to statutory demands regarding the prevention of risks in the workplace. Ensuring proper hygiene standard in all COMPANY locations. Ensuring that OH activities comply with Subsidiary/Group HSE rules and with national and international regulations. Advising and alerting the SMO JV, the management & employees on Health at Work. ACTIVITIES Manages all aspects of Occupational Health (OH) in JV on behalf of Affiliate OH Manager. o Evaluating the effects of people's health on their capacity to work: Monitoring the state of health of employees and their medical fitness to occupy their service positions throug periodic and mandatory Annual Medical Certification (AMC) with the aim of achieving 100% compliance, pre- employment and after sickness review Ensure all AMC assessment concluded and closed-out within 2 weeks of commencement. Maintaining an oversight on the supervision of contracted personnel's' AMCs carried out by Cova Care & St Nicholas Hospital which has been contracted to run this task. Monitoring and reporting sick-offs. o Evaluating effects of working environment on health, physical and psychological aspects: - Conducting Risk Assessment in the workplace, in liaison with the industrial Hygiene Unit, at all JV locations, to protect employees against health hazard that may arise out of their work; special attention should be brought to Psycho-Social Risk. o Taking preventive actions for protecting and maintaining the health, safety, and welfare of people at work: - Periodic Inspections of accommodations and offices, sanitation, catering services (monitoring food and water safety standards, control of food handlers, managing and reporting food poisoning) on all JV sites / locations. Monitoring the Pest Control (supervision of contracted companies, chemical use strategy according to WHOPES recommendations) with special attention to malaria vector control and medical waste management. - Evaluating ergonomic issues in the workplace. - Taking preventive measures to ensure the safety of Healthcare Workers who are exposed to blood-borne viruses: vaccination against Hepatitis B, HIV post-exposure enquiry and treatment. - Monitoring and reporting to the SMO/Line Manager/CMO epidemiological alerts, i.e., Lassa fever, meningitis outbreaks and any other public health hazard. o Acting to promote health, safety, and welfare at work by participating in the biennial 'Healthy living Awareness Campaigns'. o Conducting inspections of retainer clinics in Lagos: strengthening the partnership with a network of external specialists, the cost optimization, the quality control, issuing a yearly update of all retainer facilities with prioritization of services in each specialty in Port Harcourt. o Conducting audits of all JV sites once a year. o Reporting all activities in OH area on a monthly and yearly basis. CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT COMPANY is currently engaged in reorganization of the entities within the Affiliate. This will drive efficiency, professionalism, and cost optimization within the Medical Division. This position is expected to help the Affiliate achieve its objectives. The position works in partnership with all other professionals of the Division, particularly with Affiliate OH Manager, SMO JV, Medical Admin., Pharmacy Manager, Head of Emergency, Lab-scientists, and Radiographer. The position interacts With the Retainer Clinics in Port Harcourt. With the professional regulatory bodies (Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria; Society of Occupational and Environmental Health Physicians of Nigeria) and Health Authorities. Manages difficulties which can arise from unrealistic / unreasonable expectations and demands from patients. It looks up to the hierarchy for direction on policy matters. ACCOUNTABILITIES This position is accountable for: Ensuring an efficient OH standard and outcome with the corresponding reduction in lost time from work. Achieving 100% AMC compliance. Achieving 100% JV sites audited on a yearly basis. Monitoring the retainer specialists and clinics, ensuring cost-effective medical services in line with Company Cost-Control measures. · Maintaining a motivated and productive workforce in his / her area of responsibility. HSE OBJECTIVE Familiarizes self with COMPANY emergency procedures, carries-out assigned responsibilities safely and reports any incident, unsafe act, or operation. Ensures personnel under his supervision are well trained and aware of their HSE responsibilities with continuous monitoring to check for compliance with Subsidiary / Company HSE objectives and mitigates adverse impact on health and well-being of Personnel. QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED MBBS Fellow, having the specialty in Occupational Health / Medicine Competency in Industrial Hygiene with 3 to 5 years of working experience Valid registration with the relevant professional bodies Good knowledge / reference of the Oil &Gas Industry
