The Role We are looking for an experienced VAT Consultant at Senior Manager level to strengthen our Tax practice in Ghent. In this role, you will take ownership of a portfolio of clients, lead and develop a team of VAT specialists, and act as a trusted advisor on complex, cross-border and domestic VAT matters. This is a senior position with real scope to shape the future of our VAT practice in the region, working closely with partners and contributing directly to the growth strategy of the Ghent office. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for a portfolio of clients on all VAT-related matters Advise clients on complex domestic and international VAT issues, including cross-border transactions, supply chain structuring, real estate, e-commerce and financial services Manage VAT due diligence, audits, and litigation support, including representation before the Belgian VAT authorities Identify and develop new business opportunities, contributing to the commercial growth of the VAT practice Coach, mentor and supervise a team of VAT consultants, supporting their technical development and career growth Work closely with partners and other departments (Legal, Transfer Pricing, Corporate Tax, Audit) to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary advice Stay ahead of VAT legislative and regulatory developments at Belgian and EU level, and translate these into practical guidance for clients Contribute to thought leadership, training sessions, and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives Your Profile Master's degree in Law, Economics, Tax, or a related field A minimum of 8–10 years of relevant experience in VAT consulting, gained within a consulting firm, law firm, or in-house tax department Proven experience managing client relationships independently and leading a team Strong technical knowledge of Belgian and EU VAT legislation; experience with international VAT structuring is an asset Entrepreneurial mindset with a genuine interest in business development Excellent communication skills, both with clients and internal teams Fluent in Dutch and English; French is a plus Based in or willing to commute to the Ghent region What We Offer A senior, high-impact role with genuine partnership track potential The opportunity to build and grow a team A collegial, entrepreneurial working culture with short communication lines and direct access to partners Access to the resources, expertise and international network of a global firm, combined with the agility of a local office A competitive salary package with benefits in line with your seniority and experience Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working options Continuous learning and development opportunities, both locally and internationally Interested?
