We are recruiting an experienced Operations Manager on behalf of our client, a leading organisation in the shipping and logistics sector in Lekki Port, Lagos, Nigeria. The successful candidate will oversee port, terminal, vessel, cargo and transshipment operations, ensuring operational excellence, compliance and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage, train and develop the Operations team. Oversee import/export operations, manifests, vessel calls and transshipment activities, ensuring timely and accurate execution. Ensure compliance with company procedures, operational standards and deadlines, including requirements for hazardous, out-of-gauge and reefer cargo. Monitor operational KPIs, branch performance and reporting to senior management. Coordinate with shipping lines, regional and head offices, port authorities, terminals and third-party service providers. Represent the organisation's interests in dealings with terminals and port authorities. Review and validate operational invoices while identifying opportunities for cost optimisation. Develop and implement operational policies aligned with group standards. Drive digital transformation, electronic data interchange (EDI) and process improvements across operational activities. Requirements Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience in shipping, port, terminal or cargo operations. Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop a team. Strong knowledge of import/export operations, vessel calls, manifests and transshipment activities. Experience handling special cargo, including hazardous, out-of-gauge and reefer cargo, is highly desirable. Strong stakeholder-management, communication and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to manage operational KPIs, ensure compliance and optimise costs. Experience with operational systems, process improvement and digitalisation initiatives. High standards of integrity, accountability and professionalism. Experience in the shipping and logistics industry is strongly preferred.
